Thomas T.K. Kenny
I got my first taste of the construction industry selling building materials at Evanston Lumber during my summers off from Marquette University. After earning my English degree (and minoring in Theology), I returned to Evanston, but instead of getting a job in building materials sales, I chose to pursue a career in carpentry and construction management because I prefer to swing a hammer.
I joined Scott Simpson Builders in 1998, and am proud to have been a part of so many excellent projects. In my early days with SSB, I spent most of my time with a hammer in my hand, doing everything from framing a house to crafting the staircase and hanging the front door. Through the years I moved into more of a management role, visiting each project several times a day to make sure the work is being done correctly and in good time. I am lucky in that I love my work. Almost nothing in the world makes me happier than to build a really beautiful home for a family that appreciates fine craftsmanship and unique, quality materials.
I love my work.”
While I do love my work, I love to hang out with my family even more. My wife, Jenny, and I live in Northbrook with our daughter and son. Most nights I make it home in time to help with our two giggly kids in the tub. Its the highlight of my day.
