With an eye to the future, more homeowners are building green. In the North Shore village of Glencoe, Ill., Barry and Natalie Slotnick are building a resource and energy-efficient single-family home for their growing family, planning to achieve the LEED for Homes Gold certification which may reach into LEED for Homes Platinum.

Simpson wins in battle of the builders
“Scott Simpson Builders” beat “Lynch Construction” in Tuesday nights co-ed softball championships organized by the Lake Bluff Park District. It was a come-from-behind win for the Simpson team, which was ranked No. 5 after the regular season to Lynchs No. 2 status. The crowd at Artesian Park was so boisterous that neighbors could hear the cheers from several blocks away.
